This ride starts at Mount St. Mary Park in St. Charles, where there is parking and facilities available. It follows some town streets until you hook up to the Fox River Trail . Several parks along the way make for scenic stops. The first half of the route follows the Fox River. Once you leave the river you ride through a rare Fen with tons of wildlife, After a challenging hill you will follow a paved trail along Silver Glen Road to Randall Road. This trail takes you through LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve where I have seen nesting Sand Hill Crane among other birds and wildlife.  You will ride for a short distance on the Great Western Trail before taking subdivision roads behind Aldi's. You will cross Route 64 and also Randall Roads with the help of traffic signals, and take quiet in-town roads back to Mount St. Mary Park.
