What is periodization?
Periodization is a progressive series of workouts with varying intensities to gradually improve an athletes performance over time. With our periodization model, we help our athletes make significant gains over the winter. Starting in January, our experienced coaches guide athletes not only build the workouts with the progressive intensities, but also work on drills and techniques to sharpen cycling skills. When spring arrives, they can hit the pavement hard on their first ride outside!
I’ve never done this before, what do I do when I arrive?
Arrive at least 20 minutes early so you can get all set up before class starts! Let your coach know this if your first go, and they will walk you through all the steps. First your coach will enter your information into a computer to make sure the workout is specific to you! Then, you coach will help you get your bike secured on a trainer and you can start warming up!
What should I bring to class?
Your bike, cycling shoes, a towel, water bottle and any nutrition you would like to have! If you have a TrainingPeaks account, make sure you know your log in info, you can enter this information in our system and your workouts will auto load into your TP!
Can I try out just one class or do I need to commit to more?
Come try out your first class on the house!! Just go to registration, register for a class and click ‘first class free’!
Which class should I try first?
You can try out any class that currently has openings.
I don’t have my own bike, can I still ride?
You will need a bike to join in! Don’t have a bike, but would still like to try it out?! Great! We have many rental bikes we would love for you to try on during your first free class! Please call ahead and will have a bike ready for you!
Is this any better for me as a cyclist than spin class?
YES!!! Cycling is very muscle specific to YOUR bike! Spin bikes are built in different positions, and have a different mechanisms of turn. It’s all about the specificity of muscle development!
Can I use my heart rate monitor?
We love heart rate monitors! If you have a ANT compatible strap, it will integrate with our software, your heart rate info will be include in the reports!
